What is your assignment? A book review, an oral presentation, or a research paper? Do you need visual aids?
Establish a thesis (topic) question. Try to be flexible. If your topic is too narrow, you may not find enough information. If too wide, you will be overwhelmed with data.
What sources do you want? Books, periodicals (magazines),websites?
Keep track of your sources. Write the bibliographic information as you go along. MLA Reference Paper Stylesheet
Evaluate the authority of your sources. Is this the website of a fourth grader or a college professor? (College professors can be wrong too.) Searching the Web
